Change your account settings and/or password

You can change/ edit your account credentials when logged in.

To change your account details (i.e. first name; last name):

To navigate, in your Canvas account, click on your account icon on the top right corner and click on Account & Security from the dropdown list.

Under the Profile section, click on Edit.

In the dialogue boxes of First name/ Last name/ Phone number, enter your new credentials and click Save.

Note that:

You cannot edit the account credentials of another account and vice versa. Only credentials of your own account can be edited by you.

Email addresses cannot be edited.

To change your password:

To navigate, in your Canvas account, click on your account icon on the top right corner and click on Account & Security from the dropdown list.

Under the Password section, click on Change password.

In the pop-up window, input your old password and the desired new password in the dialogues boxes.

Note that:

Passwords must fulfil the following requirements:
- At least 12 characters
- At least 1 uppercase OR 1 lowercase character
- At least 1 digit OR 1 special character (e.g. ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) - _ = + \ | [ ] { } ; : / ? . >)

Set your new password and confirm the new password in the dialogue boxes. Once done, click Confirm new password.

Setting up Two-Factor Verification:

To navigate, in your Canvas account, click on your account icon on the top right corner and click on Account & Security from the dropdown list.

Under the Two-Factor Verification section, click on Setup.

In the pop-up window, you will be prompted to enter your account password. Click on Proceed.

In the next window, you may select either Google Authenticator or Email you sign up with.

Google Authenticator (2FA):

If you selected Google Authenticator as the 2FA verification method, make sure to have the Google Authenticator App (Android PlayStore or Apple App Store) installed on your mobile phone. Once you're ready, select Got you app? Proceed.

Scan the QR code on the screen or enter the given code manuall to get a 6-digit code. Input the code in the blank field.

Remember/ take note of the emergency recovery phrase that will be shown to you in the next pop-up window.

Setup for 2FA is now successful.

User Email (2FA):

If you selected Email you sign up with as the 2FA verification method, check your inbox for an email containing the verification code and input the code into the blank field of the pop-up window.

Disabling 2FA In Your Account:

To disable 2FA in your account, navigate, in your Canvas account, click on your account icon on the top right corner and click on Account & Security from the dropdown list.
Under the respective 2FA method, click on Disable.

Input your password into the blank field and select Proceed.

2FA disablement is successful.
