Types of general users permissions for Canvas 2.0 platform

On Canvas 2.0, there are various levels of user permissions you can assign to users to customise the availability/ access of certain functions and modules to them. (*Note: On Canvas 2.0, there are two general categories of permissions - one being for the overall platform and its modules; the other being for individual studies/ tables/ reports)


There are four pre-set user levels on Canvas 2.0:

  • Organisation Owner
  • Admin
  • Editor
  • Viewer


Organisation Owner


  • Organisation Owner is the highest level of permissions on Canvas 2.0. (refer to consolidated table below for more information on the various levels of permission for Organisation Owner throughout Canvas 2.0.) 
  • As Organisation Owner,  you are able to:
    • Organisation level:
      • Edit Organisation(s)
    • Team level:
      • Create team(s)
      • View and edit all teams within the organisation by default (i.e. properties, naming, etc)
    • User level:
      • Add user(s) into any team(s) within the organisation
      • Nominate another user to be an organisation owner


Admin

  • Admin has a fairly wide scope of permissions on Canvas 2.0. (refer to consolidated table below for more information on the various levels of permission for  Admin throughout Canvas 2.0.)
  • As Admin, you are able to:
    • Organisation Level:
      • Edit Organisation(s)
    • Team level:
      • Create team(s)
      • View and edit all teams within the organisation by default (i.e. properties, naming, etc)
    • User level:
      • Add user(s) into any team(s) within the organisation


Editor

  • Editor has a moderate scope of permissions on Canvas 2.0. and you would not be able to see the User Admin Console module when accessing Canvas 2.0. (refer to consolidated table below for more information on the various levels of permission for Editor throughout Canvas 2.0.)


Viewer

  • Viewer has a limited scope of permissions on Canvas 2.0. and you would not be able to see the User Admin Console module when accessing Canvas 2.0. (refer to consolidated table below for more information on the various levels of permission for Viewer throughout Canvas 2.0.)

Note: Edit labels in the table above could include editing the study on a general level and more (e.g. creating a new study).


  • It is important to note that general permission settings shown above are mutually exclusive from the permission levels for inidividual studies/ tables/ reports. Users would still have to obtain the required permissions for the individual studies separately to be able to view/ edit them respectively.
